Privacy Policy

Who we are

talktojapan.com (“TalkToJapan”, “we”) is run by Aowlad Hossain (TalkToJapan), based in Bangladesh. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].

Summary

  • We collect only what we need: what you send us through the contact form or newsletter sign-up, and basic technical logs.
  • We do not sell your information, and we do not show advertising.
  • We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
  • Fonts are served from our own website, and we do not load profile images from Gravatar.
  • Maps load from Google only after you click “Load map”.

Contact form

When you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message, together with the page you sent it from. We use them only to read and answer your message. The form sends your message to our email inbox; it is not stored in the website database.

To protect the form from spam, the website keeps a one-way code (hash) of your IP address for one hour to limit the number of messages from one connection. We keep emails only as long as we need them to answer you and follow up, and then delete them.

Newsletter

Our newsletter is not live yet. When it starts, your email address will be stored with a third-party email provider, which we will name here before the first email is sent. You will need to confirm your subscription (double opt-in), and every email will include an unsubscribe link. We use your email address only to send the newsletter.

Maps on property guides

Some real estate guides include a Google Maps map. The map is not loaded when you open the page. It loads only after you click “Load map”. At that moment your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address and browser information and may set its own cookies, under Google’s Privacy Policy.

Analytics

We do not use analytics at the moment. We plan to add Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service that does not use cookies or collect personal information to count visits. We will update this page when it is switched on.

Cookies and browser storage

TalkToJapan does not set tracking or advertising cookies for visitors. The site saves a few small preferences in your browser’s local storage — for example, that you closed the announcement bar, or which reading and romaji options you chose in a lesson. They stay on your device and are not sent to us. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.

Server logs and security

Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are deleted after a limited period.

Advertising

There is no advertising on TalkToJapan. If we add advertising in the future, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with services that help us run the website — our hosting provider, our email service and, once live, the newsletter provider — and only as needed for them to provide that service, or when the law requires it. Some of these services may process data outside your country.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also withdraw your consent, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, email [email protected].

Children

TalkToJapan is written for adults and older students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change — for example when the newsletter or analytics start — and show the new effective date at the top.
