Work & Visa

Specified Skilled Worker (SSW)

Specified Skilled Worker (SSW, tokutei ginō) is a residence status for foreign workers who pass a skills test and a Japanese test in one of the designated industry fields with labour shortages, such as nursing care, construction, food manufacturing and agriculture. SSW (i) allows up to five years in total, usually without family; SSW (ii), for more experienced workers, can be renewed and lets you bring your spouse and children.
